Planning and Zoning Commission

The City’s Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for developing, amending and administering the City’s Zoning Regulations and Subdivision Regulations.  The Commission also administers the CT Coastal Area Management Act, known as CAM.  The Commission consists of seven regular members and three alternate members.  Essential to guiding the future development of the City is the commission’s responsibility to develop and approve the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD), which is required by law to be updated every ten years or jeopardize the City’s ability to receive financial assistance from the State.  The Commission also conducts reviews and provides recommendations of significant public improvements, known as 8-24 referrals.

The Commission meets the third Tuesdays of each month at 7:30PM in Council Chambers.
