The staff of the Zoning & Building Department works closely with the Planning & Economic Development Department to support the work of the Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Conservation Commission, and the Eastern Point Historic District Commission. Both serve as the principal point of contact for developers, residents, or others with land use or building permit questions, projects and/or applications.

For the convenience of both property owners and contractors, the City of Groton now employs an online permitting system through PermitLink. Through an easy to use web portal, you may apply for a building permit, attach supporting documents, check the status of a permit and inspections.
