Harbor Management Commission

The Harbor Management Commission was established in accordance with Section 6 of the City of Groton Ordinance 56, pursuant to the provisions of Section 7-148 of the General Statutes of Connecticut.

The Commission works to oversee the development and use of the coastal waters in and around the City of Groton. Highlights include the following activities:

  • Reviewed several coastal permit applications notices of determination for coastal residents and businesses.
  • Reviewed the City of Groton Harbor Management Plan for future revisions.
  • Worked closely with the Harbormaster, Jeff Dziedzic on emergent issues.
  • Worked closely with City Staff Representative Carlton Smith on emergent issues.

 

All moorings in the coastal waters within the jurisdiction of the City of Groton require a mooring permit, including residential moorings. A vessel owner requesting a mooring permit shall complete and submit a permit along with current registration, proof of liability insurance and provide the necessary fee to the Harbormaster. Mooring permit applications are available from the Harbormaster or they can be downloaded below. For further information, contact the Harbormaster by email at Harbormaster@cityofgroton-ct.gov.

Mooring permits along with a copy of current registration, proof of liability insurance and a check for $50 made out to “City of Groton” should be mailed to:
