THE CITY OF GROTON WILL PLACE A PARKING BAN IN RESPONSE TO THE UPCOMING SEVERE WINTER STORM.
The parking ban will begin on Wednesday (12/16) at 6 PM and end Thursday (12/17) at 6 PM. Forecasts call for our region to receive significant snowfall and this will allow our Highway Department to clear the snow from our roadways. We are also expecting strong coastal winds which could result in sporadic power outages. Please prepare for this event and ensure vehicles are not in violation of this ban. The inconvenience is temporary and it allows rapid removal of snow from our roads. If the forecast holds up this will no doubt be a significant coastal storm.
Parking is prohibited on all City of Groton Streets during this time with the exception that EVEN side parking is permitted on Nathan Hale Drive, Paul Revere Drive and Litton Avenue.
Vehicles parked on hills or near intersections present the most danger for snowplow operators.
Temporary Parking is available at the Eastern Point Beach, The Municipal Parking Lot at 2 Latham Street, and Washington Park.
Vehicles in violation of the snow removal ban may be ticketed and towed at the owners expense.
