ATTENTION: NEW BULKY WASTE FEES IN EFFECT JULY 1, 2016

There will be fees charged for all bulky waste items scheduled starting July 1, 2016 and thereafter. If you have any questions call 860-446-4127.

Bulky Waste is picked up on WEDNESDAYS

Payments for Bulky Waste are Non-Refundable and must be paid one-week before pickup

NOTE: One-week notice required for all pickups.

Please Help Us Out

  • Piles must be neatly stacked – all items separated
  • No brush or lumber over 5 feet in any length
  • Bulky Waste is picked up by hand
  • Pickups will be scheduled on an on-call basis with the sanitation department at 860.446.4127
  • Items must be separated into piles of the following – wood, brush, metal, furniture and miscellaneous. Items must be away from trees, telephone poles, wires or other obstacles
  • Appliance Doors must be removed
  • Hazardous Material will not be picked up, but can be disposed of at the annual Household Hazardous Waste Day in the Spring
  • Regular Household garbage & recyclable items will not be picked up

 

Please put all items to be picked up out curbside by 7:00 am (6:00 am Memorial Day thru Labor Day – Summer Schedule).

We Do Not Accept the Following Items:

The following items cannot be taken with trash or bulky waste; you will need to dispose of these items yourself:

  • Bags of Concrete if hardened up, you need to take this to the dump
  • Boats – No Boats (Fiberglass, wood or other)
  • Carpeting
  • Ceramic Tile
  • Construction and Demolition Material
  • Creosote Lumber
  • Decks that are being taken down or replaced
  • Fiberglass Insulation
  • Floor Tiles
  • Florescent Light Bulbs – Unbroken bulbs are accepted at the Flanders Road Transfer Station; Take to Hazardous Waste Collection Day; or call Groton Utilities 860-446-4000. they take some of them; All Home Depots in CT take them, and some IKEA Stores take them
  • Grass Clippings
  • Hedges unless cut very low
  • Mercury Vapor Lamp Fixtures (Hazardous Waste)
  • Pianos
  • Plaster
  • Railroad Ties
  • Roofing Materials
  • Root Balls from hedges, etc.
  • Sheds
