Planning

The Planning Department provides administrative and technical support to the Planning & Zoning Commission and other committees as required. Staff is responsible for a broad range of regulatory functions and planning projects including administering the Zoning and Subdivision Regulations and Coastal Management Program, and Plan of Conservation & Development. The Planning Department staff works closely with the Zoning & Building Department to provide assistance to developers, residents or others with land use or economic development projects and/or applications.

Suase New London Study Logo

SUBASE New London, Town of Groton, City of Groton, Ledyard, Waterford, Montville, New London, and the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments (SCCOG) are working together to conduct the SUBASE New London Joint Land Use Study (JLUS), a 12-month cooperative land use planning effort between local government and military installations. The aim of the JLUS is to ensure lasting compatibility of military installations and the neighboring communities. The study will lead to a policy framework and implementation measures to support a healthy economy, environment, and community, while safeguarding the military mission.

You are invited to participate in the process, and to fill out this online survey to provide feedback on initial issues identified so far. The survey will be open from Tuesday March 21 until Wednesday April 12.”
