City of Groton Police Department PatchThe City of Groton Police Department is sponsoring a Citizens Police Academy. The purpose of this academy is to provide the local community with information as it relates to the function and activities of the City of Groton Police Department. It is the hope that this program will increase police awareness and build community rapport through this educational endeavor. In return, the City of Groton Police Department will benefit by becoming more aware of the concerns of the community through their interaction and input during this program. The City of Groton Citizens Police Academy will cover topics such as:

  • General Introduction
  • Hiring Process
  • Search And Seizure
  • Criminal/MV Laws
  • Drug and Criminal Investigations
  • Crime Prevention
  • Motor Vehicle stops
  • DUI
  • Juvenile Law
  • Accident Investigation
  • Domestic Violence
  • Use of Force

 

Applicants must be 21 years of age and either reside or work full time within the City of Groton. Classes will begin on April 17, 2019 and continue on Wednesdays for eight weeks. Graduation is scheduled for June 12, 2019. All applications must be received to the City of Groton Police Department no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, March, 29, 2019.

To apply complete the Citizens Academy Packet and submit as directed in the Citizens Police Academy Letter.
