After yesterday’s unprecedented weather event, The City of Groton thanks not only its Departments that addressed many issues from the storm, but our residents who pulled together as a community.
Now it’s time to focus our attention on clean up. Our Public Works Department will be picking up tree debris, with a priority on residential property, to get our City back to normal as rapidly as possible.
To assist our staff please:
- Keep branches and limbs under 8’ lengths
- Trim any limb of its branches and stack in piles
- Separate branches from limbs in piles
- Do not put out stumps or root balls
- Place piles curbside without interfering with roads or public safety
Public Works personnel are active in the affected areas ensuring clean up. With an obvious active hurricane season in front of us, we want to get ahead of this storms debris should we have any additional storms which impact our community.
Your cooperation, patience and help is deeply appreciated as we get this effort done. Our Foreman will address unusual circumstances for cleanup with their emphasis always being on safety. We hope to have clean up completed late next week and will stand ready should we get another event.
